Dr. Zhang is the founder of Beijing Highking Law Firm and has been the director since its establishment in 2004. She is primarily responsible for overseeing the firm’s Finance Committee, Business Supervision Committee and Training Committee.

Professional Background

Dr. Zhang began her legal career in 1993 and previously practiced at Grandall Law Firm (Beijing). She has served as a member of the Tax Law Committee and the M&A/Restructuring/Non-performing Assets Disposal Committee of the Beijing Lawyers Association, Chief Supervisor of The Shaanxi Chamber of Commerce in Beijing and a Member of the Shenzhen Financial Technology Ethics Committee.

Dr. Zhang is a well-known lawyer in the financial field where she has achieved considerable success. She has provided long-term legal counsel to dozens of state-owned commercial banks, joint-stock banks, securities companies and insurance companies. Her areas of expertise include banking, securities, trust, insurance, corporate and financial institution mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, non-performing assets disposal, bond issuance, and asset securitization. Dr. Zhang has drafted and revised the standard contract texts of dozens of commercial banks, and has led major international and domestic syndicated loans, large-scale financing projects, investment banking transactions, venture capital projects and aircraft finance leasing projects. Her accomplishments in litigation and arbitration are remarkable. She has represented clients in numerous difficult and complex litigation cases heard by the Supreme People's Court of the PRC, recovering more than ten billions in clients losses. Some of her cases have been included in the Supreme People's Court's Civil Trial Guidance and Reference. She also serves as legal counsel to major central state-owned enterprises under the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC), including the Beijing SASAC and State Development & Investment Corporation (SDIC). In corporate restructuring, reorganization, and M&A, she has achieved significant results. At the same time, as a Certified Tax Agent, she regularly advises on tax strategy in mergers, acquisitions, and corporate restructurings.
